Arsenal Legend Reveals 'Disappointment' at Not Being Offered Coaching Role at the Emirates

Ex Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira has revealed that he was not offered a coaching role at his former club.


The World Cup winnerexpressed his disappointment toFrench radio station RMCthat hecouldn'treturn to his former employers,despite his apparentwillingness to join Arsene Wenger's backroom staff.


The Frenchman had a successful nine-yearcareer in North London, winning numerous trophies. He was a part of the famousinvincible's and in the centre of Arsenal's trophy-laden years in the early 2000s.

As no offer came in, Viera decided to take a role at the club he ended his careerwith, coachingone of Manchester City's youth teams. Since leaving England, he became manager of MLS team New York City FC in 2016.


The Gunners hero has spoken of his regret at not being able to start his coaching career backin NorthLondon.


"It's true that after spending nine years at Arsenal it is the club of my heart," he said.


"It's where I played my best football.

"I would've liked for the door to be open to me or other players who have spent time at Arsenal and would like to get into the coaching profession.


"Unfortunately, that was not the case.I was very lucky to get to Manchester City at the right time.

"But it is true that it leaves a bit of disappointment at Arsenal."


The 40-year-old also admitted disappointment at not havingbeen asked to get involved as a coach with the international set-up of the France national team either.


"I think that the French Football Federation maybe lost my phone number," he joked.
