Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has bemoaned his side's luck after they fell to a late 2-1 defeat against Everton at Goodison Park on Tuesday night,in what he described as a "very physical game".

Alexis Sanchez had given the Gunners the lead with a deflected free kick inside 20 minutes, but Seamus Coleman equalised on the stroke of half time before Ashley Williams headed home an 86th minute winner.

Wenger admitted that Arsenal struggled to deal with the physicality of the hosts, but added that he thoughtthey had enough chances to get something from the game.

Arsenal have lost just 2 Premier League games this season; one to Liverpool, one to Everton.

"It was a very physical game, we faced many physical challenges and that disturbed our game but we were a bit unlucky to lose as well, Wenger told BT Sport - viathe Evening Standard.

"We had chances in the first half, especially from Mesut. They defended well, they played a cup game, and at the end of the day it was two defenders in their team who scored.

"They were a bit scared at first but they got their confidence. We did fight, I cannot fault that."

Defeat left Arsenal three points behind league leaders Chelsea having played a game more than their London rivals.

The Blues are in action on Wednesday night when they travel to the Stadium of Light to face Sunderland, and could go six points clear at the top.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are next in action on Sunday in a crucial clash withManchester City at the Etihad.
