After suffering a2-0 defeat to Southampton in the EFL Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday night, there is at least some good news for Gunners fans in the shape of positive injury news regarding striker Olivier Giroud.

As reported by theExpress,Arsene Wenger claims the French forward could be fit to face West Ham in the Premier Leagueon Saturday.

Giroud would surely have started the game against the Saints had he been fit; Lucas Perez led the line instead with Giroud left out due to a slight groin problem.

Wenger had this to say about his fellow countryman:Giroud is short, but has a chance to be available for Saturday.

The Arsenal boss also shed a light on another injury casualty, namely Spanish conjurer Santi Cazorla, a player who has sorely been missed by the team -continuing to recover from an Achilles injury that has plagued his season, Wenger admitted it's still unclear when Cazorla might return to action.

Cazorla I don't know, honestly. It's just inflammation. It can go in two days, two weeks - I don't know.

He has no setback, the inflammation is just still here. At the moment, it's stable.

The Spaniard hasn't featured since October 19 when Arsenal turned over Ludogorets 6-0 in the Champions League. Rounding up the Gunners' injury news, while Mohamed Elneny limped out of the game against Southampton, Wenger has claimed sickness was the reason the Egyptian left the field rather than anything more long-term.
