Former Black Stars striker and Ghana’s all-time leading goal scorer, Asamoah Gyan, made a notable appearance at Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s lecture held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.

Gyan, a prominent figure in Ghanaian football, was among the attendees at the prestigious Kofi Ohene Konadu auditorium, located at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).

His presence at the event, which marked the Vice President’s unveiling of his vision and manifesto for Ghana in his bid as the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party, highlighted Gyan's involvement in the political landscape.

In 2020, Gyan had hinted at his political aspirations, expressing interest in representing the Weija-Gbawe constituency in the Greater Accra Region as a Member of Parliament (MP).

"I’m happy that people are grateful for what I have done. I said earlier that people want me to become their MP," Gyan stated in an interview with Adom FM, reflecting on his potential political career.

"The most important thing is that people are happy with what I have done. Talking about politics anything can happen, but for now politics is not on my mind.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP's flagbearer, aims to clinch the presidency in the upcoming 2024 General Elections, hoping to break the "8-year cycle" and lead Ghana into a new era of governance.
