General Captain for the Black Stars of Ghana, Asamoah Gyan has revealed that he is confident the team’s training sessions that were not captured on camera will go a long way to help them at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The team is currently holding a training camp in Dubai as they prepare for the upcoming tournament set to be hosted in Egypt. In the past couple of weeks, Coach for the side James Kwesi Appiah and his technical team have been taking the players through various drills to get them ready for the assignment ahead.

Just last Saturday, Ghana engaged South Africa in a friendly match to test the strength of the team. Thee exercise eventually ended in a goalless draw but with some positives for the sides to build on.

Speaking in a post-match interview, Asamoah Gyan stressed that the team is ready for what lies ahead even though the pre-tournament training camp has not been easy. According to him, the team has been involved in some other drills which were not posted online and that will be key for them when the tournament starts.

“We have done well. Training has not been easy: we have gone through some drills behind the scenes that the camera didn’t capture, so we know the kind of training we have done”, the all-time leading goal scorer for the Black Stars noted.

The Kayserispor attacker added, “The tournament itself is a different ball-game altogether, but we are happy there is no injury in the camp. We will be going to Egypt with all the players ready for the tournament”.

Ghana has been pitted in Group F and they will be facing Benin, Guinea Bissau, as well as defending champions Cameroon.
