Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak battle for Great Olympics midfielder Emmanuel Antwi

Following an unimpressive Ghana Premier League campaign, Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak have set sights on augmenting their squad for the new season.

The two most glamourous clubs in Ghana finished the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League in an unwanted positions as both teams struggled to break into the top four clubs.

The Porcupine Warriors placed sixth in the just concluded campaign whiles the Phobians finished 14th on the league log.

For Hearts of Oak, they had to wait for the final day games to know their faith in the Ghanaian top-flight.

Entering the final day in 15th place with 42 points, just above the relegation zone, the Phobians needed a win to ensure their safety.

But they defeated Bechem United 3-2 at the Nana Gyeabour Park on Sunday on final day to retain their top-flight status.

The two teams will be busy on the transfer market this summer as they aim to augment their squad with quality players for the upcoming season.

Great Olympics midfielder Emmanuel Antwi could make a switch to either Kotoko or Hearts of Oak this window. The two teams have identified him as a player who can solidify their team ahead of the new season.

Antwi had a descent campaign but it was enough as Great Olympics suffered demotion to the Division One League. He made 26 appearances, scoring 6 goals and providing 5 assists across the period.

The midfielder will be out of contract at the end of the month. However, the two most glamourous clubs want to seize the opportunity to secure the services of Antwi.
