Asante Kotoko board has no agenda against Nana Yaw Amponsah - Joseph Yaw Adu

Asante Kotoko board member, Joseph Yaw Adu has rubbished claims of having an agenda against the Chief Executive Officer of the club, Nana Yaw Amponsah.

The CEO has come under scrutiny following the team's inconsistent performances, including being knocked out of the Champions League preliminary round and currently sitting 5th on the Ghana Premier League table.

The former Ghana FA Presidential candidate has been summoned by Kotoko’s board following the sacking of Burkinabe trainer, Seydou Zerbo without their knowledge.

There has been an uncertainty about the future of Nana Yaw Amponsah after he was being summoned by the board.

But Joseph Yaw Adu in an interview disclosed the board has no agenda against the club’s CEO.

“We can’t sit ideal if things are not moving as expected. Management are in charge of both resources and technical matters, coaches report to management and not board. So, Nana Yaw Amponsah being the head of management has to explain things to us”

“There is a speculation the board has an agenda against the CEO but that is a fallacy” he said.

With Nana Yaw Amponsah's three-year term ending this year, reports have emerged suggesting that his tenure would not be extended.

Nana Yaw Amponsah, who is a 2019 Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidential aspirant, was appointed as the CEO of Asante Kotoko in August 2020.
