Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have suspended winger Joseph Amoako indefinitely, the club has announced.

The 20-year-old has been punished for his gross misconduct on social media.

A statement from the club reads, “Joseph Amoako, 20, has been suspended indefinitely pending a final determination through the club’s disciplinary procedures.”

“This is due to his misconduct on social media which the club finds unacceptable.”

Amoako, who was on loan at Swedish club Helsingborgs IF returned to Ghana in March after he was released from prison following a wrongful conviction in Sweden.

The winger was handed a two-year prison sentence after he was wrongly accused of rape.

Following months of investigation, the 20-year-old was found not guilty and freed to return to his club in Ghana.

Since his return to Ghana, the enterprising winger had been training with his parent club to keep his shape for next season.

Amoako struggled for playing time at Helsingborgs IF where he made only ten (10) game outings — 295 minutes — for the club in all competitions.
