Acting Ashanti Regional Director for the National Sports Authority, Edmond Appiah has revealed that the clubs can use the Baba Yara Sports Stadium after the 6th March Independence Anniversary celebrations.

The Sports Ministry on Monday, February 17, 2020, announced temporary closure of the stadium to allow renovation works ahead of Ghana’s 63rd Independence Day anniversary celebration.

This has affected clubs in the Ghana Premier League as well Division One League as they began the search for a new home venue.

King Faisal have chosen Assin Fosu as their new home ground, however, it yet to be approved by the Club Licensing Board of the GFA while Asante Kotoko are yet to confirm their venue.

Speaking to Asempa FM, he said, "The Baba Yara Sports Stadium will undergo renovation and the teams that use the venue are aware. The clubs were aware that at any particular point in time the stadium will be closed down."

"The contractor is currently at the venue working and to save injuries and inconveniences it was prudent to bring a halt to all sporting activities at the venue."

"This is a temporal closure because after the independence celebrations the clubs can still use the stadium. The work will be done in phases, the Kumasi Stadium will not be completely shut down."
