Ashgold crash out of CAF confederations cup after losing 2-0 to RS Bekane in Morocco

Ghana Premier League side Obuasi Ashanti Gold has crashed out of the 2019/2020 CAF Confederations Cup after losing the second leg of their tie with RS Bekane 2-0 in Morocco on Saturday night.

Nicknamed the Miners, the West African club went into the encounter with a slight advantage after winning the first leg 3-2 at the Len Clay Sports Stadium a fortnight ago.

Needing to avoid defeat in Morocco to ensure they sail through this stage of the competition, Ashanti Gold disappointingly endured a 2-0 defeat at the Stade Municipal de Berkane.

Dayo Issoufou opened the scoring for the side on the 32nd minute following a series of impressive plays after Ashgold had been reduced to 10 men. Zaid Krouch gave the home side a two-goal cushion on the 45th minute to worsen the woes of their visitors.

An improved performance from Ashanti Gold in the second half could not produce any consolation goal, leaving them to succumb to the two zero defeat.

That results sees RS Bekane winning the tie 4-3 on aggregate as they move closer to securing a place in the Group Stage of this seasons CAF Confederations Cup.
