AZ Alkmaar striker Myron Boadu snubbed by Netherlands ahead of Euros

Published on: 18 May 2021

AZ Alkmaar striker, Myron Boadu, has been snubbed by the Dutch national team for the upcoming European Championships in June.

The Dutch coach picked a total of 36 players as part of his preliminary squad which includes 12 forwards but Myron Boadu was not part of the list.

This comes as a blow to the 20-year-old who has been an excellent performer for his side in the Dutch top-flight.

This season, Boadu has netted 15 goals and added one assist in 31 Eredivisie matches. He has already played for the senior team in a competitive match and scored a goal when he was given the opportunity.

Boadu rose through the youth ranks in AZ Alkmaar and eventually became an important player in the senior team.

As it stands, he will watch Netherlands from home as they prepare to battle other nations for the Euro 2020 crown. He will hope to earn a place in the World Cup qualifiers instead.

Netherlands are in the same group with Ukraine, Austria and North Macedonia.
