Azam FC goalkeeper Razark Abalora eyes Black Stars call-up

Azam FC shot-stopper Razak Abalora has set sights on senior national team call-up ahead of 2019 Africa Cup of Nations(AFCON) scheduled to be held in Egypt in June.

Abalora has been consistent for the Tanzania giants in the domestic league and in Africa inter-club competitions.

In an exclusive interview with footballghana.com, the former West African Football Academy(WAFA) youngster has shown his passion to represent the national team of Ghana. He, however, claimed that the national team belongs to all Ghanaians and has equal right to feature for the team.

"I had a wonderful season with Azam last year and still experiencing a wonderful period after we won the Manpuzi cup. I am in great form and I think to earn a senior team call-up will have a great impact in my career as a young goalkeeper", he said.

"Although I am much concentrated on my darling club Azam FC but talking of national team call up, it is an honour to wear the colours because it belongs to every Ghanaian". The 22-year-old stated that despite his good numbers he wouldn't be perturbed should he be ignored by coach Kwesi Appiah.

"I am very equal to mend the post for my nation but will not be disappointed not been called despite proven beyond all doubt that I can mend the post".

"Yes, I have been consistent at my club side and sure our league is a very competitive league with a lot of foreigners and shouldn't be a reason to deny me a call up", he added.

He has made 21 appearances and kept a remarkable 13 clean sheets and conceded only eight goals for Azam FC so far this season.

Razak recorded remarkable feet last season by equaling Manula of Prisons FC five years record of 15 clean sheets with Simba FC.

He made an appearance of 29 in his first season for the giants and conceded only 11 goals in the Mainland Tanzania Premier League.
