Ballon d'Or short-list cut to three

Published on: 06 November 2018

Fifa has announced a three-man short-list of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Franck Ribery for the 2013 Ballon d'Or award ceremony in Zurich on 13th January.

Real Madrid superstar Ronaldo, who will return from injury for the Champions League Group B match-day six clash away to FC Copenhagen on Tuesday, recently scored his fifth hat-trick of the season to send Portugal to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

His main rival, the injured Barcelona playmaker Messi, has won the prestigious award four years in a row, while 30-year-old France winger Ribery helped current Bundesliga table-toppers Bayern Munich win the Treble last season.

Elsewhere, the now-retired Sir Alex Ferguson, Jupp Heynckes and Jurgen Klopp of Borussia Dortmund will compete for the Fifa World Coach of the Year award.

The three nominees for the Fifa Puskas Award for the "most beautiful goal of the year" are Zlatan Ibrahimovia (13th November 2012, Sweden v. England, international friendly), Nemanja Matic (13th January 2013, SL Benfica v. FC Porto, Liga ZON Sagres (Portugal)) and Neymar (15th June 2013, Brazil v. Japan, Fifa Confederations Cup).

The recipient of the Fifa Presidential Award and the winner of the Fifa Fair Play award will also be revealed at a ceremony at the Kongresshaus early next year.

Real Madrid are priced 1/2 to win this season's Champions League, Barcelona are on offer at 1212/1 and Bayern Munich are quoted 12/5.

Don't forget, if the match finishes 0-0, bet365 will refund all pre-match Correct Score, Half-Time/Full-Time and Scorecast bets with our fantastic Bore Draw Money Back offer.
