Barcelona Striker Luis Suarez Set to Renew Contract With Spanish Champions Until 2021

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez is set to renew his current contract with the Spanish champions until 2021 after a scintillating start to his career with the Catalans.


According to Spanish news outletAS, representatives from the European giants, as well as the Uruguayan striker himself, have confirmed that the club are in advanced negotiations to secure a deal for Suarez as soon as possible, extending his contract by five years.

Further reports have suggested that Josep María Bartomeu - Barcelona club president - and the player's agent Pere Guardiola have met behind closed doors to discuss the potential deal, with Suarez a favourite that that the club keen to see commit to the Nou Camp.


Suarez is also reportedly extremely happy at the club, despite rumours that the former Liverpool striker could be in line for a sensational return to Anfield, and that he feels a key part of the direction and the success that Barcelona are aiming for this season as they look to win all four competitions they are involved in.

Since moving from Merseyside to Barcelona in 2014, the 29-year-old has scored an incredible 94goals in 108 appearances in all competitions, and looks set to continue that fine record this season alongside teammates Lionel Messi and Neymar.


The Uruguay international has also been selected for the 30-man shortlist for the Ballon d'Or, to which he is one of the front runners after scoring 59 goals in La Liga for Barcelona last season.
