Benjamin Tetteh: Sparta Prague forward racially abused in Czech

Sparta Prague forward Benjamin Tetteh has reported a racial abuse in the Czech Republic during a league match against Slavia Prague.

The two local clubs were in action last Wednesday in a fiercely contested fixture in the Czech top-flight league.

On the matchday, Benjamin Tetteh could not earn a starting role and had to start the game at the Eden Aréna as a substitute.

A little after the 20th minute, he was called for a warm-up session. During his warmup, the Sparta Prague man says he was subjected to racist chants from the supporters of the opposition.

Though he reported the situation to referee Ondřej Berka, the official later concluded that it was just normal chants from supporters but with insults.

"We did not notice any humming or racist manifestations. I think it was a 'normal' chanting and insults that were at the stadium for ninety minutes, Ondřej Berka told Radiožurnál.

He added, "I honestly didn't understand what he was describing to me until a few minutes later when I asked the boys what he really wanted to tell me”.

The crunch meeting between Sparta Prague and Slavia Prague ended goalless at the end of the 90 minutes.
