Ghana Premier League side, Berekum Chelsea have completed the re-signing of former Ghana international Solomon Asante on a free transfer.

The 31-year-old joins the Blues for the rest of the 2021/22 season after ending his three-year stint with American outfit Phoenix Rising FC.

Asante was awarded a new contract extension at Phoenix Rising but he declined the offer to rejoin Berekum Chelsea.

The club will announce his signing in the coming days, according to reports.

He becomes the second high-profile footballer to make a return to the Ghana Premier League this year after former Inter Milan and AC Milan midfielder Sulley Ali Muntari joined Hearts of Oak.

Asante joined Phoenix Rising FC from Congolese top-flight league giants TP Mazembe on a free transfer in 2018.

The experienced forward is regarded as a legend of the Phoenix Rising FC following his outstanding performances during his three-year stint.

He scored 54 goals and provided 44 assists in 114 appearances across all competitions for Phoenix Rising FC.
