Black Meteors to play friendly matches in Egypt before heading to Morocco for U23 AFCON

The Ghana U23 team has stepped up training this week as part of preparations for the U23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

On Thursday morning, the team defeated Uncle T FC 3-0 in a pre-tournament friendly match.

According to a communique from the Ghana FA, the Black Meteors will travel to Egypt next week for a pre-tournament training camp in Cairo.

While in Egypt, the team will play a couple of friendly matches before heading to Morocco for the start of the U23 AFCON.

“The Black Meteors will depart Accra on Monday, June 12, 2023 for Cairo where they will camp for two weeks and engage in a series of friendlies before the competition,” the Ghana FA communique said.

Meanwhile, the head coach of the Black Meteors, Ibrahim Tanko has named a 29-man provisional squad for the U23 AFCON.

The squad includes four Black Stars players including Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Ernest Nuamah, and Ransford-Yeboah Koniigsdoffer.
