Ayew excelled on the left-wing for the Black Stars in their 3-2 win over the Asian giants on Monday afternoon, putting in two deadly crosses which both led to goals for Ghana.

Speaking on the HLTCO podcast, Cook suggested Jordan Ayew should be deployed on the left-wing of attack to free up Wilfred Zaha to operate through the middle as the club’s main striker.

“You look at his output for Ghana on the left-hand side and you do start to wonder – or at least I do – whether or not he might be of better use to us out there.

“And there is potential, as far as I’m concerned, for shifting Wilfred Zaha into the middle more regularly and using Jordan Ayew on the left and Michael Olise on the right.”

Ayew has established himself as a key cog to Crystal Palace since his arrival back in 2018. He racked up149 appearances for the Eagles while turning out in several different positions.

The Black Stars forward has in many occasions featured as a right-winger under Patrick Vieira.

But having excelled as a left-winger for the Black Stars, he is likely to be handed with a new role at club level.
