CAF CC: Zesco United boss laments over club’s awful form

Published on: 14 March 2019

Zesco United coach George Lwandamina is worried about his clubs recent poor form.

The Zambian champions lost their third game in a row on Wednesday when they were defeated 2-1 by Mufulira Wanderers in the league.

Lwandamina is brooding over his side’s lack of power fire ahead of the Kotoko and he believes his defenders have not been up to the task.

“It is just a phase that we are passing through. It is not that we are not playing OK but we have just found ourselves in a situation where we are not able to defend well and we are not able to score,” Lwandamina stated after the defeat to Wanderers

“We have also played too much football including the traveling that has left us with two days between games; that could also be a factor.

“Training time hasn’t been there, so the only thing that is helping is the team recovery and that could be a major contributing factor because there is no character in them, they seem to be tired.”

Zesco United are already out of the CAF Confederations Cup following a 3-0 defeat to Nkana last week.

They will face Kotoko on Sunday in Ndola with just their pride at stake.
