Ghanaian club Medeama have progressed to the next round of the CAF Champions League qualifiers after seeing off Nigerian side Remo Stars.

The Ghana Premier League champions went into the return fixture in Nigeria with the advantage following a 1-0 victory in the first leg at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium last Sunday. Jonathan Sowah strike was enough to secure Medeama victory.

Despite the narrow advantage, the Yellow and Mauves managed to snatch qualification over Remo Stars at the Remos Sports Complex, Ikenna in Ogun State.

Both teams were unable to find the back of the net in the first half despite creating numerous goal scoring opportunities.

After the break, Remo Stars improved their performance to break the deadlock in the 72nd minute mark and with no additional goal, the game had to travel to penalties shootout to determine the winner following a 1-1 aggregated score.

Medeama won the penalties shootout to cruise to victory as they progress to the next stage of the qualifiers.
