CAF Champions League: Young Africans counting on Hafiz Konkoni to upset Medeama

Published on: 07 December 2023

Tanzanian giants Young Africans faces a daunting task against Medeama SC as they seek for their first win in the CAF Champions League group stage.

Yanga are without a win after two games in Group D, losing one and drawing one in the process.

The Yellow and Mauves will play host to Yanga at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday, December 8, 2023.

The former Bechem United striker is part of the Yanga squad to face the Ghanaian champions this Friday.

Konkoni played against Medeama during his time in the local scene and for that matter, Yanga will be counting on the Ghanaian forward to upset the Yellow and Mauve in Kumasi.

Two months ago, the forward told Koforidua-based Bryt FM the anticipation surrounding their match against Medeama, "The best team will qualify, but for us, we want to qualify for the quarter-finals. It won't come on a silver platter; we just have to put in much work. Medeama has done extremely well, and I believe they will put up a good show in the group. So, it will be a very interesting group."

The 23-year-old bagged 15 goals in 23 appearances for Bechem in the Ghanaian top-flight last season before moving to Tanzania.

He has one goal and one assist in three matches for Yanga in the CAF Champions League this campaign.
