Dreams FC player Ofori McCarthy says the head coach of the team, Abdul Karim Zito, inspires conspires confidence in the team because of his experience in their CAF Confederation Cup run.

McCarthy and Zito have worked together at different levels, including at the 2021 U20 Africa Cup of Nations that they won in Mauritania.

He believes their run from the prelims through to the semis in their first ever participation in an African inter-club competition is inspired by Zito.

“I’ve been with him at the national team, in 2021 when we won the AFCON U20 in Mauritania, so I think he has a lot of experience and I think the confidence he has that’s what he always put in so much whenever we go to onto the field to play,” he told Citi Sports.

Dreams FC are preparing for a crucial second-leg match against Zamalek on Sunday, April 28th, with the goal of securing a place in the final of the competition.

The team, known as the Still Believe lads, held their first training session on Wednesday after recently arriving in Kumasi to get ready for the important encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.
