HJK Helsinki midfielder Evans Mensah has to join the Black Meteors of Ghana squad last night at the M Plaza Hotel of the first leg of the CAF U-23 Championship qualifiers in Accra.
The former Inter Allies youngster became the fifth player to meet up with the team after arriving last night in the country.
Mensah, Isaac Twum ( IK Start), Gideon Mensah ( FC Liefering), Frank Arhen (Austasuna) and Joel Fameyeh ( Dinamo Brest) are the foreign-based players called to augment the squad.
Ghana will host their counterparts from Togo on Tuesday 18th December in the first round of CAF U-23 Championship qualifiers.
The Black Meteors have never qualified to the CAF U-23 Championship since it’s inception in 2011. The competition also serves as the qualifiers for the Olympic Games.
Called up to the Ghana national football team as a replacement for David Accam, who was injured, Mensah made his international debut against Mozambique in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
