Canada names two Ghanaian players in their fist against Cuba

Canada names two Ghanaian players in their squad to face Cuba in Concacaf Nations League home and away series this 7 & 10 September 2019.

Richie Laryea is Ghanaian born who plays for Toronto in the major league soccer, had his first call up after turning heads with his club last season.

The 24-year-old Laryea, has made 13 starts in his 17 MLS appearances this season with Toronto. Able to play both fullback and midfielder.

Alphonso Boyle Davies is a Canadian  player who plays as a winger for Bundesliga club Bayern Munich, He was the first player born in the 2000s to play in a Major League Soccer match.

Davies, 18, has scored two goals in eight Bundesliga appearances since moving to Bayern from Vancouver Whitecaps in January 2019, but has yet to play for the record champions in European competition.

The Canadians thumped Cuba 7-0 in Gold Cup group play with Lucas Cavallini and Jonathan David each scoring a hat-trick. Both are back in Herdman’s squad as part of a potent strike force that also includes Akindele, Davies, David (Junior) Hoilett and Cyle Larin.
