For Chelsea, Michael Essien goes down in history as one of the best players in the world in recent times.
The Blues sealed the signing of the Ghana midfielder from Olympic Lyon in 2005 for a fee of £24.4 million.
The retired player who is now working to get his coaching badges worked with Jose Mourinho and won a number of trophies for Chelsea.
He later went on to play for Real Madrid as well as AC Milan.
