Chelsea Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois Could Let Contract Expire Following Real Madrid Interest

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois could allow his contract to expire amid reported interest from La Liga giants Real Madrid, according toThe Sun.


Courtois has impressed in recent weeks in the Premier League, helping his side keep seven clean sheets in the league so far this season.


The Belgianhad not leaked a goalin the league since the 3-0 defeat at Arsenal following Antonio Conte's switch to a three-man defence, but conceded during Chelsea's 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

Courtois' good form has seen him linked with moves abroad, with Real Madrid reportedly interested. Keylor Navas has impressed during his time in Spain, but Real seem intent on signing another world class keeper, with David de Gea previously being heavily linked with a move to the club.


The 25-year-oldis reportedly set to evaluate his future at the end of next season, with Real eager to take advantage of the stalling on a new contract.


The Belgium international currently has two seasons left on his current deal, and Chelsea are eager for him to commit his future to the Stamford Bridge side by signing a new contract.

Former Atletico Madrid goalie Courtois has made no secret of his desire to one day return to Spain, having developed quickly during his time with Atletico boss Diego Simeone.


Courtois won the La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Europa League during his time in Spain, and picked up a Premier League title and the League cup during his first season as Chelsea's number one.


Courtois has made 80 appearances in all competitionsfor Chelsea, having signed for the club back in 2011 from Genkand then being loaned out to Atletico Madrid.
