Having already turned down an offer to manage League One side MK Dons last year, the 36-year-oldhas since secured a role at former club Liverpool, where he will take up a coaching position in the club's academy.

Whilst he may be at the beginning of his journey into management, Gerrard has received backing from a number of former teammatesand Lampard has become the latest to offer kind words to the former Reds captain by stating that the former midfielder will become a 'great manager'.

He said of Gerrard to theEvening Standard:"He's learned a lot, he is a great character and was a leader of men at his club.

"I think that counts for a lot. His decision will be up to him.
