Chinese Super League manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has ruled out a potential transfer move for Manchester United's Wayne Rooney.

Having fallen out of favour at United in recent weeks Rooney's club future has become the subject of intense transferspeculation, being linked with a return to boyhood club Everton, as well as a potential move to the MLS in America.

Speaking toThe Sun, Eriksson, Rooney's former England manager, ruled out a move for the 31-year-old, citing his club's already impressive selection of forwards.

I have always known Rooney as a forward ” one of the best I have worked with," theShanghai SIPG manager stated.

Everyone knows how much I admire Rooney. That's one thing. To make out we are going to sign him is something else. There is absolutely nothing in it, zero.

"It is not something we have ever even spoken about at the club ” and we have been discussing our options for next season a lot.

But we already have Hulk, Elkeson and Dario Conca, who are all very good, as our forwards.

Despite ruling out a potential move for the Manchester United midfielder and forward, Eriksson remains a big fan of Rooney, claiming he is still 'a very good player'.

The former Lazio and Manchester City boss added: "He is still a very good player with a lot of quality.

I'm sure he could come to China in the future. He is the type of player the league will be after.

Rooney has so far scored one goal and recorded two assists in nine Premier League appearances, with Manchester United currently in eighth position.
