Hughton’s contract runs till December 31, 2024, after serving as technical advisor to the Black Stars, in the aftermath of Ghana’s early exit from the 2021 AFCON.

“For the first time, the head coach and his two assistants will have their contracts running concurrently," Asante Twum said.

"The contract that Mr Chris Hughton has signed, his two assistants have both signed the same contracts which would run until December 31, 2024,” Asante Twum stated.

Hughton brings a wealth of experience to his first top position in African football, having previously managed teams in the Premier League and the English Championship. He has been tasked with rebuilding the Black Stars and returning the team to glory days.

The former Northern Ireland international is eager to hit the ground running and has a tough test ahead, with his first game in charge coming up on Thursday against Angola in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

The Black Stars are joint top of Group E alongside Angola with both teams with four points after two games.
