Christian Atsu makes first Chelsea appearance two years after joining club

Ghana midfielder Christian Atsu made his Chelse debut two years since joining the club. The 24-year-old came on as a substitute for the Blues in their 2-0 defeat to Austria side Rapid Viena in a pre-season friendly game on Saturday.

Atsu who signed for Chelsea from Portuguese side FC Porto two seasons ago have spent the last two years on loan in Holland and Spain.

With the arrival of a new manager in the person of Antonio Conte at the Chelsea, Atsu will be hoping to impress to get a place in the team next season.

His touches in the game when he was introduced were very encouraging but his side could not earn a draw as he and manager Conte suffered their first defeat in pre-season.
