Goran Barjaktarevic coach of Legon Cities has urged the Ghana Football Association to restart the 2019/2020 Ghana which has been suspended since March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Other countries on the continent Togo, Nigeria, and Burkina Faso have all canceled their leagues due to the COVID-19 pandemic, forcing many to call for the cancellation of the Ghana Premier League.

Speaking to local radio station Accra FM he said

“Personally, it would be nice if you continue to play this season. It would be very good because you have clubs who with this break, will stay in one place. We don’t go out. And it would be not correct towards those clubs who find new players for this season in order to go to break that the league. It will be the best thing to continue to play this league,”

GFA is still in talks with stakeholders to determine the way forward for football in Ghana.

Legon Cities lie 16th in the GPL after 14 games before the league was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
