Crystal Palace boss Hodgson admits difficulty with Hennessy & Speroni selection

Published on: 08 December 2017

It is rare to hear about a manager having a selection headache when managing a club that is near the bottom of the league table.

However, Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson believes he has two very good goalkeepers in Wayne Hennessy and Julian Speroni. The two are vying for the number one jersey at the club.

"There's quite a stiff competition between the two of them, so it's always something for me to resolve before games, which one of the two I want to start the game," said ex- England manager Hodgson.

"They're both very competent and Wayne Hennessey kept a clean sheet before Julian and now Julian's kept one, so they're keeping me on my toes."

Speroni has featured in the Palace goal when Hennessy was out with injury, and it will be interesting to see who can make the number one jersey their own in the coming weeks.

Palace will need their goalkeeper in top form in the next few games, with crucial fixtures against Bournemouth, Watford and Leicester City on the horizon.
