David Duncan was appointed base on C.K Akonnor's recommendation - George Amoako

Ghana Football Executive Council member George Amoako has revealed that former Hearts of Oak trainer David Duncan was appointed assistant coach of the Black Stars base on Charles Kwablan Akonnor's recommendation.

The experienced football administrator has refuted claims that the GFA solely appointed David Duncan as assistant coach of the senior national team without the knowledge of CK Akonnor.

He says the Football Association consulted the Black Stars head coach before making the appointment official earlier this week.

"Let me explain this quickly, the appointment was first made of the head coach, then you rely on the head coach to appoint the assistant coach so we acted that based on the recommendations of the head coach," he said in an interview with Kumasi based FOX FM.

The Ghana Football Association announced the technical handlers of the various national teams with former Ghana international CK Akonnor and David Duncan taking over from Kwesi Appiah and Ibrahim Tanko respectively.
