Dennis Appiah reveals how Nantes secured a point against Nimes

Despite Ludovic Blas’s opening scoring in the first half, his seventh goal of the season, FC Nantes failed to come back from Nimes with three points. The Canaries were joined in the last quarter of an hour by an achievement from Nimes on which they were unlucky. Antoine Kombouare's men are now 19th in Ligue 1. Dennis Appiah spoke to the media after the game

Do you have any regrets after this match?

Yes, regrets and anger. Not just because of the result. In the second half, we didn't get the game under control. Nimes reacted and we get into their game. We use long balls and we cannot produce any play.

Yet you had the game in hand?

We should have done more to score the second goal in the first period. We have to make sure there are more scoring chances. We have the game in our hands and we have to put their heads under water. We just had a little slack in the last five minutes. But after the break, we should have continued to win the duels and made them run.

You got off to a good start in this game. Did you prepare for it by telling yourself that this was a crucial date?

We didn't prepare it any different. We knew we had the opportunity to get past them if they were successful. Luckily, we can respond quickly with Wednesday's game. We are going to prepare for a full game.

What were the coach's instructions at the break?

He asked us to stay strong but not to wait and keep the 1-0 because we don't know how to do it. You had to keep attacking to kill the match.

This very high block, was it a will of your trainer?

Not necessarily at the start. We had to at least have a mid-size compact block. We gained confidence and decided to go higher.
