Ghan fullback Tariq Lamptey featured for Brighton and Hove Albion as they lost 3-2 at the Amex Stadium to Greek side AEK Athens.

The 22-year-old came in the 55th minute to replace veteran James Milner when the Seagulls were already 2-1 down.

Lamptey could help his side get a good result on their historic night despite his decent performance.

AEK Athens emerged victorious in Brighton & Hove Albion's maiden European outing, seizing the lead three times.

Djibril Sidibé's powerful header, met from Ehsan Hajsafi's corner, set the tone for AEK's dominance.

Brighton responded with João Pedro's historic penalty, their first in European competition, but Cican Stanković swiftly restored AEK's advantage with a precise strike.

Despite Pedro's second successful spot-kick levelling the score, AEK remained resilient. Ezequiel Ponce's clinical finish from a well-worked move secured the crucial win.

Despite Brighton's late surge, AEK held on, marking a pivotal start to their Europa League campaign.
