Former Asante Kotoko assistant coach Johnson Smith is close to joining Ghana Premier League newcomers Bibiani Goldstars ahead of next season.

The Porcupine Warriors recently parted ways with the former Karela United gaffer after two-year spell with the two-time African champions.

However, the Bibiani based club who are determined to leave a mark in the domestic top-flight have decided to appoint Johnson Smith to serve as an assistant coach.

Goldstars have already appointed former Star Madrid and Kotoko coach Michael Osei as their new trainer following the exit of Kobina Amissah who secured Premier League qualification with the club.

Johnson Smith when appointed will deputize Michael Osei as they set sights on maintaining Ghana Premier League status in the 2021/22 season.
