Ex-Kotoko board member against the appointment of Nana Yaw Amponsah as club CEO

Benard Ziel, a formal Asante Kotoko board member has taken an opposition stance against the club’s imminent appointment of Nana Yaw Amponsah as their new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The newly-constituted board of directors after a meeting on Tuesday has reportedly settled on the Phar Rangers owner for the CEO role of the club with an official announcement scheduled for Friday.

Speaking to Kumasi FM, former Kotoko board member Benard Ziel says the current board is rushing the appointment of Nana Yaw Amponsah.

According to him, the young football administrator has not done anything significant to deserve the top position at the Porcupine Warriors club.

“I will be very astonished if the board of directors decide to appoint a CEO for now, they must exercise patience in executing their duties. I do not know the reason for the rush. They must also consult a lot.

“There are a lot of things at Asante Kotoko that needs urgent attention ie the secretariat and Adako Jachie”, Benard Ziel said.

He continued, “What are the achievements of Nana Yaw Amponsah to be given a huge job as the Asante Kotoko CEO? No one has been able to enumerate his achievements.

“It is only a media hype, he has done nothing distinctively to deserve the CEO position of Kotoko.

“What has such a braggart like Nana Yaw Amponsah done, has he built a stadium for a club or purchase an airplane for a club?”, he quizzed.

Benard Ziel believes the board should have advertised the position or seek advice from a consortium, before deciding on a CEO for the club.
