Referees Manager of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Alex Kotey beleives expansion of television coverage will help improve officiating.

The top-flight competition has faced widespread criticism for controversial decisions in the just-ended season.

The awarding of goals and decisions by referees, especially on the final day of the season, sparked suggestions for match-fixing.

However, Kotey acknowledged existing limitations in broadcasting capacity but advocated for expansion.

"[I wish] all our matches can be televised live because when there is a live match, the attention and focus is on you [referee]," he told Asempa FM.

"You will also not want [to commit blunders], but here again, it is up to the sponsors. They think that they cannot show all the matches.

They can show about four matches. I think going forward, if we can expand a little bit to get more coverage, it will help."

StarTimes, who are rights holders for the league after signing a $5.25 million agreement in 2020 has seen the contract being terminated as reported by Footballghana.com on Friday.

As a result, the Ghana Football Association is currently seeking a new partner.
