FA Cup Match Report: Hearts beat Danbort to progress into semis

Accra Hearts of Oak beat Danbort 1-0 in the quarter finals of the 2016/17 MTN FA Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday to progress to the semifinal.

Vicent Atinga scored from the penalty spot in the 64th minute ensure the Phobians secure a semifinal berth.

The Capital based club started the game on a good note having established their dominance in all department of the game, as Danbort were left on the back foot in the early minutes of the game.

Striker Cosmos Dauda should nearly opened the scoring for his side in the 17th minute but his effort at goal was saved by Danbort goalkeeper Prosper Gbeku.

Kwame Kizito had the biggest opportunity for Hearts in the first half in the 32nd minute but he blasted his shot way off target after he was beautiful teed up by Richard Akrofi.

The lower tier side had an opportunity to stun the host in the late stages of the first half when Ibrahim Lard was left one-on-one with Hearts goalkeeper Ben Mensah, but the shot stopper was equal to the task as the game went into recess scoreless.

Hearts started the second half on the front mounting relentless pressure on the Danbort defence who stood resolute on their defensive lines.

Vincent Atinga broke the deadlock for the Phobians in 64th minute when substitute Patrick Razak was brought down in the penalty box. Atinga stepped up and struck home from the penalty spot.

Danbort responded very well after going a goal down as they had their fair share of possessive football but the attacking prowess proved futile.

The ten times Champions are now through to the semis as they chase an 11th FA Cup.
