FC Köln manager Steffen Baumgart counting on Ghanaian midfielder Kingsley Schindler after injury to Benno Schmitz

Ghanaian international, Kingsley Schindler is set to enjoy more playing time at FC Köln following an injury to Benno Schmitz.

Unfortunately, he will not be playing in his usual midfield or attacking role. Due to the departure of Kingsley Ehizibue and the injury of first-choice right-back Benno Schmitz, the German Bundesliga club must look to players that are versatile.

According to manager Steffen Baumgart, Kingsley Schindler has proven to be a good fit and he hopes he can slot in to do the job.

“King is not just an alternative,” the FC Koln manager said while adding, “We assume that he can do that very well. We don't play with a back three. In the end it's usually a chain of five with a parked bus in the back anyway. It's not my story and it's not my football."

This weekend, FC Koln will take on Wolfsburg in the German Bundesliga on Saturday, September 3, 2022.
