Fiorentina’s signing of KP Boateng questioned on the back of his poor form in Serie A

Following Kevin-Prince Boateng’s poor form for Fiorentina in the Italian Serie A since the start of the 2019/2020 season, the team’s manager and the top hierarchy have been questioned over why they went in for the player.

The German-born Ghanaian international was signed by the Viola for €1 million in the summer transfer window following an uneventful end to a loan spell with Spanish La Liga side FC Barcelona.

Since his arrival in Florence, he has struggled to show the quality he is known for, resulting in Fiorentina’s struggles in the Italian top-flight.

Speaking in a recent interview on the back of the team’s woes, former Sporting Director of Empoli, Pino Vitale has hit out at the club while questioning why they signed the former Schalke O4 danger man.

“It is he who built the team and is now under scrutiny together with Montella. You could do better on the market. Lirola was an important investment and the role could be covered by Venuti and spend that money in other roles. If at Fiorentina they thought they were starting the season with Boateng striker they were wrong. They could keep Simeon then”, Vitale shared.

Meanwhile, KP Boateng has worked hard in training this week as he hopes to excel when Fiorentina takes on Lecce on Saturday, November 30, 2019.
