Former President of Ghana John Agyekum Kufour has urged foreign born players of Ghanaian descent to take the chance to play for Ghana.

Ghana is actively persuading Arsenal attacker Eddie Nketiah, Brighton defender Tariq Lamptey, and Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Eddie Nketiah in a recent interview stated he is happy Ghana booked a place for the 2022 World Cup which will be held in Qatar.

Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi was also in Ghana in December last year. He was hosted by a Ghanaian musician named King Promise. Hudson-Odoi during his visit to Ghana met some important personalities including the President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo.

Defender Tariq Lamptey has also asked to be given some time to think about his international future as reported by Footballghana.com

"It is good. We already have the dual citizenship arrangement so you can be a Ghanaian or Italian and still play for the country," Former President Kufour said.

"It does seem that as good as our boys maybe wherever they are playing, their chances there don't tend to be as good as people who could claim to be of the soil of that country," he added.
