Ex-Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Samuel Akurugu has revealed why he left the club after the Pbobians 5-0 humiliating defeat to WAFA in the Ghana Premier League.

The 24-year-old was in post when Hearts suffered their worst defeat in the history of Ghanaian topflight league.

Akurugu, who currently plays for King Faisal says his problem with the club started after that game as he was blamed for that heavy loss in Sogapoke.

"I had a problem with the Goalkeepers trainer at Hearts of Oak and Jerry Agyei after that match. He preferred our second keeper since then.

"After that heavy defeat to WAFA he refused to call me to camp for subsequent matches till I got peeved and left,” he said in an interview with Angel FM.

"I could have avoided the heavy defeat because at a point some of the players told me to feign injury, but I refused because we must fight on."

"This was after I conceded two goals in the first half. I told them, I would rather concede more goals than to feign injury."

He added, "I see myself as gentle and noble person and I don’t want to have problem with anyone so I just left to save my career."
