As the countdown to the 2023 African Games draws closer, Abdoulie Bojang, the coach of the Gambian U-20 team, has ramped up preparation sessions in anticipation of the prestigious tournament.

With only a few days left before he announces the final squad, Bojang has been meticulously evaluating his squad's performance at the National Technical Training Center in Old Yundum.

Since Monday, February 5, 2024, Bojang has been working with a provisional group of 30 talented players. Every week, from Monday to Wednesday, the team gathers for rigorous training sessions aimed at fine-tuning their skills and strategy for the upcoming games.

This week, however, holds particular significance as it marks the final opportunity for players to impress Bojang and secure a spot on the roster for the tournament. With the announcement of the final list scheduled for the end of the week, the intensity of the training sessions has reached new heights.

Gambia's campaign in the 2023 African Games will kick off on March 8 at the Accra Sports Stadium, where they will face off against Benin. This will be followed by a crucial match against hosts Ghana on March 12 at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium. The Young Scorpions will wrap up their group stage fixtures with a clash against Congo on March 16.
