Gareth Bale Offers Real Madrid Fans Positive Update as He Recovers From Ankle Surgery

Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale has offered fans a positive fitness update as he continues on his road to recovery after undergoing ankle surgery at the end of November.

Bale hasn't been seen since on the pitch suffering in his right ankle in a Champions League game against Sporting CP and later travelled to London for an operation under the supervision of Real medical staff.

Taking to Twitter, Bale posted an image of himself looking happy on a treadmill along with the message, "Ankle feeling better everyday".

He is now free from the protective boot that he had to wear immediately after surgery.

The Welsh international, who was nominated for the Ballon d'Or in 2016, also congratulated his Los Blancos team-mates for setting a new Spanish record earlier during the week against Sevilla and going an incredible 40 games unbeaten.

Bale is believed to be well on course to return to action by March. It will come as a boost in time for the season run in, when Real will be looking to capture only a second La Liga title since 2008, as well as hoping to be competing in the Copa del Rey and Champions League.

On a personal level, the injury layoff couldn't have come at a worse time for Bale. He had started the season strongly with seven goals in his first 16 appearances in all competitions and was on course to match or better his previous best single season tally since moving to Spain of 22 from 2013/14.
