Garry Rowett Pleased With Birmingham's Pre-Season Progress

Birmingham City manager Garry Rowett has revealed his contentment after presidingoverhis side's successfulpre-season, but also admitted that he would havehoped to havesecured more signings by now, as reported by the club'sofficial website.

With the Championship campaign just around the corner, Blues manager Rowett will be waiting for the right players to become available.

"Yes, I'm really happy about that, the way pre-season has gone," said Rowett.

"I'm like everybody else, I'd hoped we'd have our full squad of players available. But once again you see every team in this division still trying to add the final bits to their squad.

"I use a case in point, our Player of the Season last year was unequivocally Jon Toral, who we signed in the week before the first game of the season.

"Sometimes you have to wait for the right ones to come along and when they do I would hope that everyone will be glad of it.

"I think I'm going grey overnight at the moment because we're working so diligently to try and get things done. It's not a case of not being able to do the deals; it's a case of trying to get the right player and the right player available and it's not always easy to get definitive answers off people because it's a very complex business bringing a player in."

The Blues face Hibernian on Sunday and Rowett has highlighted that his side's approach will not change.

Rowett said: "We're not too sure about what to expect from Hibs because obviously they played extra-time Thursday night (against Brondby in the Europa League).

So we don't know whether or not they'll play their first team or some of the other players. But whatever they do it won't make any difference to us because our approach will be exactly the same and we look forward to the game."
