Former Black Stars player, Derek Boateng, has expressed concern over the future of Ghana's national football team, citing a perceived neglect of juvenile football by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
Boateng, who rose to prominence by representing Ghana in youth competitions, believes that Ghana's juvenile football system faces significant challenges.
He argues that authorities prioritize the senior national team, the Black Stars, due to the financial incentives they receive in the form of bonuses, unlike the youth teams.
The former Fulham player fears that if proper attention is not given to the development of young players, the next generation of Black Stars may struggle to meet the high standards set by their predecessors.
"I'm always fighting them about this kind of issue because if our Black Stars will be good in the future, it depends on our grassroots football. Nobody cares about them, there is no per diem, no bonuses, and salaries, so they don't care," Boateng claims during an interview with Joy Sports.
