GFA Medical team needs to introduce doping test for players – Yussif Chibsah

The Head of Player Relations of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana's (PFAG) Yussif Chibsah has charged the Medical Team of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to introduce doping tests in the wake of allegations that more than half of players in the country smoke marijuana (weed).

Last week, former Kotoko and Great Olympics head coach J.E Sarpong in an interview with Accra-based Angel FM alleged that 60% of Ghanaian players on the local scene are into the smoking of marijuana which is a banned substance according to FIFA.

Speaking on the same platform on Monday night, Yussif Chibsah has called on authorities to look into the issue and tackle it.

According to him, it will be prudent for the Medical Team of the GFA to be conducting doping tests on the players to fish out those who involve themselves in such acts.

"It will be a step in the right direction for the FA medical team to start with doping tests like it is done in other leagues", Chibsah said.
