Ghana coach Otto Addo urges players to be calm in front of goal ahead of World Cup

Head coach of Ghana, Otto Addo has backed the players to be calm when they get to the final third of the opponent's half as they prepare for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Black Stars ended their September pre-World Cup friendlies with a 1-0 win over Nicaragua on Tuesday.

Sporting Lisbon youngster Issahaku Fatawu netted the only goal of the game in the 35th minute in Lorca, with a rasping left-footed shot from outside the penalty area.

Black Stars wasted a plethora of chances in an unconvincing performance against the central American nation, who are 79 places behind them in the FIFA rankings.

"It is just like we have to be a little bit more composed, a little bit also more cool on the ball and sometimes we have to take some time and make another cut, maybe lay it off to a player who is in a position to score.

"We were also unlucky at some point not to score more goals and their goalkeeper did very well, and we have to be a little bit precise instead of always wanting to hammer the ball into the net, we have a young squad, a lot of young players today, and a squad of new players, and this is quite normal."
