Ghana Football Association president Kurt Okraku has confirmed Mohammed Salisu’s readiness to play for the Black Stars after holding a second meeting with the Southampton star on Saturday.

Okraku, who is keen to lure the enterprising defender to play for Ghana ahead of the World Cup in Qatar held a fruitful discussion with him and his father.

It is said Salisu has finally agree to join the Black Stars in the coming days.

The FA boss in a post on social media announced Salisu will play for the Black Stars after a successful meeting.

"Great seeing you with that big smile...Proud son of the land who is proud to give back what football has given him...Ready to serve and looking forward to our common future with all the positive energy in you. God bless our homeland Ghana and make our nation great and strong," Okraku wrote on Facebook.

Okraku met Salisu in England and discussed the player's refusal to play for the senior national team after several attempts from the GFA while on a working visit.

During the meeting, Salisu made clear his desire to play for Ghana but Okraku jokingly pressed him to name the date which forced the confession from the player.

But he was still missing in the Black Stars squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

However, the news about his readiness to play for the national team is a good one for the country ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Salisu had previously turned down multiple offers from the GFA to represent his birth country, claiming he was not ready.

He rejected invites from Kwasi Appiah, CK Akonnor and Milovan Rajevac.
